Got 2 questions for you all , regarding the mobile searches and mobile sites:

I noticed that if I search on google from a desktop OR mobile device, the SERPs are almost identical.

Has anyone encountered a totally different SERPs displayed for desktop and mobile searches?

I believe that the google mobile search (google.com/m) should display only sites that are made for mobile devices (e.g. only m.domain.com or domain.mobi ).

Did anyone hear such a claim from google – if this is truly the case and that this is what they’re aiming at? Do you think the results then will be different from the desktop searches?

Overall mobile, smartphone and pda where identified searches on my sites account for less than 1% of total visitors and they see the same results.

I believe some sites are made so that they can detect which type of device is being used and automatically show the correct one.

The sites where I have purpose-built .mobi sites hardly anyone uses them even though some rank extremely well. This year I let go of at least 12+ .mobi domain names.

FWIW I have watched people using sites on smaller devices and they don't seem to care about scrolling all over the place to find what they're looking for.

Whether they actually roll out an "m" search, I've no idea.

Netmeg's had some success with "m" sites, wait and see what she has to say.
