Hi,

One of our website has recently lost rankings and we don't know why other than the fact that our link pattern just did a 180 ? Could it be the reason and is there a change we get back to where we were or even better ? and usually how long does it take ?

our link pattern just did a 180

Describe what that means, please. Internal links, backlinks, outbound links? - and what does doing a 180 mean with regard tol inks?

I am talking about backlinks and what I mean by 180 is that I had 90 % of my links with one anchor text that said " green widgets " and this allowed me to get ranked for one keyword.

Now all the new links have my website address www.mywebsite.com or " brand name " and since those my ranking keeps moving back.

One note on the "green widget " keyword ( which is a 3 word keyword my ranking is not moving ) However on the 2 word keyword ( which is the 3 word keyword minus 1 word ) is where my ranking keeps moving back and I really don't understand why ?

Internal or exterior links? Most times changes internally will give a blip for a few days, perhaps a week. Externally one has a different problem.

If it was working, why change? In most cases once 100% result has been achieved there isn't any more one can do.

My guess is is that it worked well for the 3 word keyword because it is not very competitive.

However the 2 word keyword is extremely competitive and instead of needing 50 links to rank I would need a few thousand ... which is not the way to go, if I understand correctly google is much smarter than this.
