About 10 days ago my homepage disappeared from google SERPS, after ranking top 4 place for 6 years.

My hosting company tell me that around that time they had a problem and migrated my site to another machine with a different IP address. A worm had infiltrated their server and was sending out mail.

Webmaster tools shows no Malware or restricted crawl access and the rest of the site is fine, using site:command it's just the homepage that has disappeared.

I've applied for a reconsideration already just in case it takes that long. Could google think there is duplicate content, due to the new server?

Any ideas anyone?

Could google think there is duplicate content, due to the new server?

No - for several reasons. First, there is no penalty for duplicate content [1](reference) [webmasterworld.com]

And more than that, your content is indexed by your domain name, not your IP address. It'smuch more likely that your DNS is not properly set up. It is also possible that Google has a bug. That sometimes happens with the domain root.

You've already made your reconsideration request - and that's the first step I would have taken, too.
