URL not displaying correctly in the SERP

Hi,

When I search for certain keywords, the url in the serp does not display correctly for my site. For example, when I search for anything in Google, in green below the search result, it will show http://www.abc.com/asdf.php or whatever the url is to the page. However, for my site, it shows "http://www.abc.com > asdf" and not the full url to the page.

Does anyone know why this is and how I could fix it?

Thanks

What you're describing sounds like a site hierarchy breadcrumb trail in the URL display area.

Here's a reference to our discussion [webmasterworld.com]
...and another one to Google's 2009 announcement [googleblog.blogspot.com], when they first began working on this.

If that's the case, then the "http://www.abc.com" part links to your homepage and the "asdf" part links to your internal page, the same one that the title above the description snippet also links to.

And if I'm describing your situation correctly - then there's little you can do to change it. Google sometimes creates these "site hierarchy breadcrumbs" for sites even when the site itself does not use breadcrumb trails on their pages. You can take it as a compliment on your site's clean internal structure.
