We have a requirement to create a new version of our .co.uk shopping website on a new URL (.ie)

This new domain will point to the same code/server etc, and will be an almost exact copy of .co.uk website apart the logo and prices.

I can't get in to the details of why we're doing it this way, but it 'has' to happen all the same.

What is the best way of doing this? I don't want any duplicate content penalties or the new .ie site 'over taking' our co.uk website. Any thoughts or tips?

if you don't care about the .ie website appearing in google just use robots.txt to block the new duplicate site. also add a canonical tag on every page just to be redundant.

if you want the .ie website to rank in the search engine you have a big problem since you say its an almost exact copy of the existing site. google does not want multiple copies of the same content. you'll need to find a way to add value and make the .ie site unique if you want it to get into google serps.

If you want to use same server better to use a dedicated IP and make the contents unique.
