Does using google toolbar help it find new fresh pages?

Experiments reported here several years ago certainly seemed to prove this. I never doubted that it's still the case.

dont take our word for it. build a brand new page and then visit it with a browser installed with google toolbar and watch your log files.

it seems that google currently has multiple ways of discovering urls. imho the two best ways are for external websites to link to you & significant real human usage. real human usage will lead to that traffic showing up in google toolbar logs, isp logs, twitter mentions, forum mentions etc.

personally i dont care much about google discovering any of my urls. i care much more about google ranking my urls high for relevant keywords that will lead to sales. good luck.

One of my favorite Google tricks is how they sniff out wordpress powered sites.

Google will visit example.com/wp-app.php/service (or any number of keyword after ".php/") to see what's behind the curtains even though that page is never linked to or visited. Pretty clever actually.

If the blog allows remote posting a password box will popup. If it doesn't a generic 403 message appears. I wonder if "access off" sites rank just a little better since they are a little more secure. Perhaps "access on" blogs with multiple authors rank better since having multiple authors might suggest a more authoritative site. Who knows.
