Do you report paid links?

Seo isn't really my everyday task.
But today I did some research and found out 5 or more of my competitors ranking on place 1-10 are placed in this position because they're using paid links or #1 has over 500 press releases.
It's that simple to trick google. This makes me sad and angry and for a real short moment I thought about to report those paid links.
But that's not my way of doing business..
What's your opinion about this? Thanks.

scottsonline reporting a site you might suspect of buying links sometimes takes months if not years to take them out. Google just can't take a site out that looks like it might be buying links. If that were to happen think about it I just spend me a couple hundred on spammy links and turn you in. There is way more to how a site is deemed to be buying links than the report you send in.

buying links on site that have no relation to the business
This is a temp boost and the site won't be there long enough to do much damage.
we should do nothing
No you should do what your suppose to do work harder on better quality links, content, reviews, local, branding, and so on and bet them down.

Bwn, my employer gets tens of millions a year in free organic (sales) traffic from the search engines. We are more than happy to spend 30 minutes a year making reports.

You made our point. Go buy spammy links for a competitor and it will have no effect or it will boost their rankings. Report them or they get caught and they are returned to zero/steady state pre link purchase.

There's a ton of high value sites selling links where I've noticed the link text ranks for the selling site but not the targets. Yet another way theyre fighting paid links.

Google gives us all a ton for free. I have no problem as an employee or as a web user at home hitting the feedback button. I believe now more than ever they do act via the algo pretty quickly.
