Hi everyone;

Two things.

First, one page got scraped. It is more of an "archive" page, meaning the product isn't being sold any more and the info hasn't been updated in years. In fact, I completely forgot all about it.

It is appearing on a site that isn't a competitor. In fact, they are something of a library of on topic articles, and they have apparently included my e-commerce page in that library.

the links on that page appear to be followable and they have the full URL back to my original site.

Should I let them keep it up on their server? It is about 20 links pointing back to my site (all from one page though). Or should I kindly ask them to take it down.

Second qeustion; Aren't URLs forbidden from having spaces?

I know I am not supposed to post links here, so I will just describe the URL that the page appears on their site has their domain name followed by a /directory/A and then several keywords WITH SPACES between the keywords. So it is literally something like this:

domainname.com/DirectoryName/A CountryName Widgets/Subjects/Subcategory/Sub-Subcategory/Practices- (Relevant Keywords With More Spaces)/Specific/Other Keyword/Other Keyword/My Original Page Title with spaces.htm

All the spaces you see in the URL above actually appear in the URL

Maybe I am not keeping up with technology, but I thought that URLs with spaces either didn't work or the server inserted the ascii character for a space automatically?

Why do you want to ask them to take it down, unless it is affecting your business. You are saying the product isn't being sold anymore but still you get a few links.so, you could better leave it as it is unless there is something fishy.

2) When you click on those links, are you able to get to your page and get a 200 response code? If yes, I believe it shouldn't be a problem.

Hi ya, indyank:

Thanks for the response.

You are saying the product isn't being sold anymore but still you get a few links.

The product is not being sold anymore. But I did want to keep a copy of the page up on MY site because it has a little bit of on-topic content, and there are the occasional visitor who comes in through that page to my site.

So I am worried about duplicate content issues, because it is, after all, my content.

Well, actually the links are to my site, but technically they are in an old URL format, so they are 301 redirecting to current links that do produce a 200 code.

I guess you are still having that copy on your site and are you ranking above the other site for the keywords that you intend the page to rank.If yes, I think it shouldn't be a problem as they are linking back to you.

Have they included the entire page in their library or just part of it?

It's the entire page.
