They're trying to get way too clever!

I'm in Lincolnshire in the UK, the second largest county in the entire UK, searching Google.co.uk for something specific HOWEVER Google in all its infinite attempted AI architecture keeps giving me Lincolnshire, Illinois, a village, a suberb of Chicago.

Great Google...this is about the tenth time tonight you've well and truly screwed-up on searches!

Then I entered the same search terms in Bing and 100%!

Google, get back to KISS, I have my search without Instant and I have my images as Basic...!...Surely that should tell you something from someone who helped you out so much 12 years ago?

Too many of Joe Public are now seeing your FUBARS.

Yes, I have seen the same thing in the last few months.
Apparently US locations are far more important than elsewhere.
I have searched several times on google.com.au for <niche> <location> where location is also a small town in the US, and gotten US results - where I had 'pages from Australia' checked.
Very frustrating with my searcher hat on :(
