Welcome to the forums, Nil_patel.

Wow, that's a big question. It's going to depend on how YOUR business is set up and who you are trying to appeal to, specifically.

But in general, you should certainyl do good SEO on your pages and promote your offering in a way that attracts backlinks - no different from any other website. What will be important is making your website's value proposition clear and appealing. That's what will get people talking about yo and recommending you - linking to your site in articles, especially.

A B2B portal, have you checked what your competitors are doing ?
Adwords, offline media, etc. ?

Is your portal a national or international one?

Is it one specific trade or generic?

If specific, do you know roughly how many companies there are in the industry?

Do you know who are all/your main competitors?

Is it informational only or a trading platform as well?

Do you have a regular newsletter informing what is going on?

Do you attend trade exhibitions/fairs?

Do you know many of your trade magazines?

Are there any trade forum boards?

Do you know what are the trade's main product lines?

If this is a specific trade portal, do you have any experience of it whatsoever or are you being asked to construct something of which you have little or no knowledge whatsoever?
