Webmaster Tools doesn't recognize TLD as, ummn, a TLD

Webmaster Tools for a New Zealand TLD, .net.nz: several functions "only available for root level domains". Ugh.

1) Is there any way to tell the idiots that they've missed a TLD off their list, cos I don't see a "contact us" link, and
2) Is it possible this error is actually in Google itself, or am I safe in assuming it's just a Webmaster Tools bug so is unimportant...?

First, I'd try the "Reconsideration request" form for contacting Google.

I also think it's just a bug in Webmaster Tools - but you never know for sure. Curious, which functions are not available?

mm looks like nz is a bit old skool and it looks like .net.nz is supposedly restricted to people and orgs connected to the internet infrastructure. ( a bit like .net used to be)

not quite sure why anyone would need to have a .net.nz in GWT? btw does maori.nz also have the same problem?

No idea. I have a .net.nz because the .co.nz was taken. It's used internationally in the same way that .net has become generic but I wanted .nz to show the NZ origin of the site content. There's no requirements to owning it, anyone can.

In any case, it's a proper TLD but Webmaster Tools don't recognize it.

Tedster, I think it's just like having a subdomain in Webmaster Tools? You can't set domain canonization ("Preferred domain"), www.x.net.nz instead of x.net.nz, just irritates me.

WMT is also showing a message "You're also a verified owner of these sites: x.net.nz", even though x.net.nz redirects to www.x.net.nz. Ugh.

Finally, under "Geographic target", I can't select anything - it's just New Zealand with no options. The instructions say you can't select another country if you have a country specific TLD, but to select "Unlisted" if you want to remove the bias. I do, but there is no "Unlisted" option...
