I was just checking my referral logs and for a three keyword term I had the top 6 results including at third "Show more results from example.com" and at fifth "Show more results from example.in" at sixth was my example.asia site.

Ok, so the actual raw product is the same however the finished product in each case from each domain is completely different and actually from a different factory nevertheless, even though that looks good for me at the moment, even I feel that's a bit O.T.T. (Over The Top).

When I see something like this occurring I just get that twinge of a Google backlash coming along!

This I believe is related to google wanting to extend the focus down the page to increase revenue. You can have an ad in the 7th spot that gives away a million dollars to each visitor and I bet ctr would still be low. By filling the top 3-4 with less choice they force us to look further down the page. Either that or they have lost all sense of what people want.

Personally I hate this feature. These extra results should be in a +tab under the first result. I think it looks terrible and is only showing the limitations of current indexing. Most of the alternate results are unrelated

I agree, it makes me look very spammy when in fact I am not. Anyone checking the pages would immediately see that the actual on-page products are entirely different therefore I can understand why Google are showing three different sites but they are cross-linked to help people find the different products from alternative sources.

The Result? Google has got it right but it just doesn't "look" right however this is probably a problem quite a few international supply companies may have.

And as a matter of interest I just decided to check Bing and Yahoo for the same phrase:

Bing

1. example.com
2. example.in
3. a.n.other
4. example.asia

Yahoo

1. example.com
2. example.asia
3. example.in
4. example.com
5. example.in

Hmmm...ok, now what do I say? Just one of those kinda fluke results?
