Hi

Since today my site drop down for many important kws and drop some positions (3 or 5) for not important kws.

For the most important the site drop down 70 positions, 150 positions and other kws I can't find the new position...

The strange thing that I see, that if I search the site using its name domain, appears in the page 5 and with a different title (not the site title of the homepage).

That's why I write in the forum, to know your opinions about this issue.

Thanks
Martin

Martina in GWT just add the mydomain.com and verify. Also you can tell google that you want to show the www.mydomain or the mydomain.com.

@otnot10

As I posted "Also in my site configuration settings I have as preferred domain: www.mydomain.com" I did not have mydomain.com as preferred.

I put the 301 redirect so I will wait and tell here what happens.

@epmaniac

Google asks you in GMT to verify mydomain.com ? Where you see that?

@epmaniac

What does Google ask you? Can you tell me what exactly says? Is like an invitation like this: please verify mydomain.com ?

google never asks, .... it says that you need to prove that you own mydomain.com... and for that u need to verify

@epmaniac, so google says textually, prove that you own mydomain.com?

Google is suggesting (in an automated way) that you might want to verify that version of your domain as a "website" in Webmaster Tools.

I'd do it. I'd be very curious about what kind of data Google has built up for it. There might be some useful insights - or maybe not and you just ignore that "website" going forward. But it wouldn't hurt to get curious.

@tedster

I dont see that kind of invitation. I put now a 301 redirect, you think that is ok?

Thanks!

Sure - a technically accurate 301 to remove canonical problems is a good thing to do. It's a best practice.

@epmaniac

not yet ... you?

The issues that I fix:
- 301 redirect from index.php to www.mydomain.com
- 301 redirect from mydomain.com
- I correct duplicate content (i found that my old webmaster copy some text from other sites...)
- links to the site. We discover that 30% of the links come from 5 sites (one of them was mysite.com). The other third party sites that I asked them to delete the link, 3 of them deleted the links, we are wating for the fourth one to delete the links. Most of this pages are automatic generated (most of the error scripts)

You have any update?

Some update...
Now if I search the site using its name domain, appears in the page 2 or 3 not page 5 and with the site title (the same in the homepage).

The other kws are in the same positions, and my visitors only a bit better 15-20%

more update

GWT update now my links but still showing information of links that I removed 3 weeks ago.

Also Google still shows me mydomain.com as an external domain.

I added the 301 redirect 2 weeks ago. Can this happens because I use subdomains for other languages? for example I see that es.mydomain.com links www.mydomain.com, but I´m using 301 redirector from mydomain.com to www.mydomain.com and today I decide to add in my google account mydomain.com also...

Is a joke that G show me mydomain.com as external...

Any idea or comment?

I added 301 redirect 3 weeks ago, and also added mydomain.com as a domain in GWT.

I can see watching GWT information that mydomain.com section shows me information about pages that are not in my site since december 2009...

Why G shows me mydomain.com as different? and why shows me old information? Does 301 redirect will solve me this issue? As I mentioned I add the 301 redirect 3 weeks ago.

Thanks for your comments

Martin, GWT data is often gibberish and outdated.Don't go by it. Regarding treatment of mydomain.com as external, google does show the subdomains as external in GWT, but they don't treat them so.
