Hi,

I just noticed Google no longer indents a second listing from the same website. The result now appears as a normal result right below the first one.

I am logged out and on google dot nl. Have spotted more than one instance of previously indented results no longer being indented.

i noticed that the other day when i searched for "phpbb hacks" (...they're not real hacks, just mods for the phpbb forum software).

if you do it, then you'll see that the first six results are all from the same site. seems a bit silly to me -- especially when you consider that those pages are all duplicates of the sitelinks they've put under position 1.

Woah, yep just checked it myself. When I checked it though, 7 of the results were phpbbhacks.com. That's crazy - plus the first result have sitelinks. So over 70% of the main (page 1) SERPs for that query was taken up by just one site!

I looked around and it seems to mainly happen when Google feels a particular search is for a particular website. (The results for Microsoft and other big brands are the same - 5-7 results directly from the same domain)

Is odd though, since (for example) phpbb hacks isn't solely specific to phpbbhacks.com

Hmm... They are indented again now. Seems like G is split-testing.

Google has been tweaking the algo that decides when to remove the host crowding filter. Here's a strongly related discussion: Google To Show More Results From a Domain [webmasterworld.com]

I am in the UK. My WEB results are not indented but my UK results are for the same query!

More interestingly, the WEB results show 3 links to site 1, 1 link to site 2, 3 links to site 3, 1 link to site 4, 1 link to site 5 and 1 link to site 6, running top to bottom - i.e. 10 results only, no indentation and now only room for 6 sites on the homepage.

MORE results from MORE than 1 domain - is this new?

Conclusion from all the recent changes being that Google revenues on the verge of collapse given that recent changes ALL seem to be about driving ad revenue and nothing to do with users.

Announced more than a month ago: Showing more results from a domain [googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com].

Google revenues on the verge of collapse...

Huh? An almost 24% year-over-year increase in both revenue and earnings is on the verge of collapse?

MORE results from MORE than 1 domain

I think that is a new twist. Last month's announcement was about query terms that were clearly navigational in their intention - so more than two results from that one navigational target made some sense.

Are these other domains with 3 positions completely independent from each other, or are they connected by company ownership?

Well, that's what I get for *assuming* that the announcement was about what I was seeing.

They might have turned the nobs a bit then because like confuscius I have been seeing a mix of results from three or four domains for some queries. I'll keep my eyes open and see if I can narrow it down at all.

3 results from one of my domains and 3 results from amazon - I do not own amazon!

What is new is more than 2 results from more than 1 domain - out of interest I also get two listings on page 2 and before you ask they are all on the same root domain and involve no subdomains for any of the sites involved.

Hmm... No more indented results here. It's being turned on-off-on... And now off again. Make up your mind, Google!

I for one liked the indented results; they're a great way to quickly see what else a certain site has on offer that might be relevant.
