Not sculpting but creating a minisite in a site. Will it benefit me?

I have a traditional B2B B&M products section with a parent page and then perhaps 20 daughter pages. The only links are from the parent page to the daughter pages.

I want this section, especially the parent page to rank better for "blue widget" which is what it is about.

I am considering putting breadrumbs into all the daughter pages linking up to the parent page with the anchor text "blue widgets" then I am also considering making a list of links for each daughter page linking each daughter to every other daughter page and putting that at the bottom of each daughter page.

green blue widgets
red blue widgets
orange blue widgets
etc ..

I think this will be helpful for users so plan to do it anyhow, but, is it likely to improve my google rankings, all other things being equal?

Well, on the basis that it makes life easier for users, I have done it anyway :-)

I have seen a pattern over some time that if a site has many pages that can rank for a term, the key page for that section does better than a single page. In other words, if [site:example.com keyword] returns a dozen URLs, then that site will usually get a better ranking for [keyword] than a site that has only one or two results for [site:example.com keyword]

That's a more technical way of saying that what you are doing sounds good for SEO as well as for your visitors.

Thanks tedster, yes that seems to make some sense to me.

Plus I do think anchor text works on internal links also, not just external ones.

At the moment that site is a bit in the doldrums, google only seems to crawl it about once a month and only very slowly discovers new content.
