How important are contact numbers in content?

I'm noticing a shift back to good old fashioned relationship marketing by phone and not some call center in a place i can't empathise with. Conversions are rocketing.

Folks are doing their research online and they're happy to spend an extra few dollars for this ( which allows localisation costs to catch up). So it makes me think of how Google might want to take advantage of this by skimming off some Android connection dollars. I wonder how far off it is and how important it is to prepare with phone numbers in content.

Any thoughts ?

I put my phone number on the sites i run because it is law in the UK. You should hear some of the scumbags who call me. If it were not law - I would take my number off immediately.

Just another angle.

Has anybody crunched any numbers on quality vs quantity of leads when you have your number on every page rather than just a contact us page?

If I had my druthers, contact information would be on every page. Every time I have to drill down through a bunch of pages to find out where or who you are, I get more ticked off with every click. I have abandoned shopping carts over this on multiple occasions, and I'd be willing to bet I'm not the only one.

A contact link on every page, yes, and a phone number is OK if it won't be changed any time soon. For me, I do have my phone number on every page but I made it a graphic, for 2 reasons: It can't be harvested by the scumbags; if/when I need to change it, I simply re-upload "phone-number.jpg". Works great.
