Suddenly my site dropped 1st page to 5th page

yes, yesterday my site dropped 7th position to 45th position, and for some keyword I am not even in 1000s position.
So I check everything like WMT, indexed pages, and backlink but nothing change. I see one of my competitor site moved to 3rd page as well. is there any update yesterday in sepr?
what should I do know this was my main source of income
The site is 5yrs old and has 450k backlink in WMT
please let me know if anyone see any change like me

Does your sites name appear in the first position when you type "yoursite" without the .com or does it show on page 5.

Have you been doing any excessive link building or techniques that could violate the Google webmaster guidelines?

You might have gotten a penlaty but you need to tell us more on what you did.

Thanks Maximus, yes my domain name come in 1st when I search it but I lost my targeted keywords.
I did some link building but I see my competition lost his rank too.
I am not sure why penalty after 5yrs :(

- What kind of website is it? (Ecommerce, Dropship, Informational, Affiliated, etc)
- What was the source of your income? (Product sales, Ad sales, Adsense, etc)
- Has the issue been seen for several days, or is this the first day?
- Finally, Have you kept a log of your changes for the last 90 days?

This is what I often find is the MOST important thing. Things that seem like small changes to you or I, may have large impact on search results.

If you were doing OK with the site up until now, I would suggest looking through your referrer logs, find the sites that were sending you the most traffic, and see if they offer any kind of advertising programs.

well this is flash games site, i use adsense on it. last 2month I was first page. no I did kept any log for that.
most of the traffic I send adsense :(

seems like there was some recent tiny changes my site was dropped 1st spot to 3rd page but I am back on 1st spot however a lot of changes for other keywords and I did lose ranking and it seems more spam sites are ranking on top now. Thanks G for supporting spam, who would support them otherwise.

yes ErnestHemingway, They now ranking some site whoever repeat the keyword over and over.
I see some site ranking they put keyword in 10 times in a page :s #*$! this is kind of spamming too. I don't if they would give us the ranking back again or just keep those site in top

We are in a competitive world. Sometimes the "new kids" get a boost (pushing us down) but G, B and Y (now B, too) figure that out and send the new kids to the bottom of the list. MEANWHILE, don't make too many changes unless you know how they will affect your results! Sometimes waiting a week will make all the bad things go away after the bad kids get spanked.

Just remember, there are umpteen-gazillions of new webmasters every week. And some of them get their 15 minutes of fame at your expense.

I know G loves spam. It has been like that for a while now. Look a search query like "make money online" or "make money" have a look at what the top guys are doing and they been there for 2 years now and legit sites are nowhere to be found. MC and team has been sleeping. Their may day update was not any better either it just affected same old white hat webmasters.
