I started a new site about 2 months ago, it had been cached by google regularly, cache date used to change with in 3 days. On 27th July google cached my site and i could see all the new content on home page, right after 2 days, google reverted back to old cache which was on 19th July. And now to this day, 6th August google has not cached my home page.

My deep pages are still being crawled regularly and heavily, which is mainly due to influx of quality backlinks acquired.

Its flipping my head figuring, what possible could be the reason that google reverted back to old cached version of site?

It might help to know that just because some older version of the page shows up in the "cached" link that doesn't mean your Google ranking is based on that older version. The "cached" link just shows a publicly displayed cached page, and that's not the fully sharded version of your URL with all the internal meta-data that Google has calculated and assigned to it.

If your traffic is still steady, I'd just move on to other work. That's especially so if you have verified that googlebot is still crawling and getting a 200 OK response from your server. I've seen this a good bit and when traffic is steady it seems like some back-end problem at Google.

With hundreds of Google servers required to answer even one query, sometimes stuff breaks in one place and you end up with fail-over data.
