Is Google ignoring pagerank of a website while producing SERP.

Its very clear that Google ignoring nowadays pagerank factor for E-Commerce websites in displaying search results.

before my competitors had the pagerank 5 and my site had 4, in recent Google pagerank updations competitors lost their pagerank from 5 to 1 but my site did not loss the pagerank (now its 4).

But in Google SERP, keywords positions are not changed. if Google giving importance to the pagerank system, my site should come first in SERP. its not occurring what are the reasons please anybody comment on this.

Thanks in advance.

First of all, read the Hot Topics, always pinned to the top of this forum.

But essentially,

1) PageRank is 1 of 400 factors used to rank a page
2) Toolbar PR (generally called TBPR) is pure fiction. It used to advertise Google's USP, but everyone now has an equivalent metric. Generally, it is used to promote FUD [en.wikipedia.org], or supress the link trade (if your competitors selling links, they will now be getting less money for them)

Real PR is, at best, only loosly related to TBPR
