Google showing keyword-similar domain holding pages in SERPs

Hi there,

Something I just noticed when checking out the listing for our own site, is that at the moment we don't own the .com for our .co.uk, which is fine at the moment as we don't sell internationally really, but i'm sure the last few days, maybe a little longer the .com has been ranking 3rd even though it is just a domian holding page!

[google.co.uk...]

I have noticed this for a few competitors as well with just holding pages with domains similar to the keywords in their URL showin up for their brand / website names.

Any ideas what might be causing this ? Has google shifted things around to give even more weight to keywords in the URL, so much so it will rank pretty much anything with the right keywords ?

If the search is for [keyword1 keyword2], then exact match domains are probably good choice for the end user, no matter what the TLD. Yes, exact match domains pack a lot of punch in the SERPs
