Site Reconsideration - worth it or not ?

Since the Mayday update, our traffic has taken a considerable downturn, like many other people here, so I was wondering if there was any value in submitting a site reconsideration or if it may do more harm than good by drawing attention.

Has anybody got experience of this or some insight please.

My site is completely white-hat and IMO has better content than most of the competitors who are now ranking more highly.

If you haven't found anything to fix about your site or its promotion, it could very well be a lost cause. It's rare to see a change in cases like that. See Reconsideration Request Tips [webmasterworld.com] for discussion about this and a linked video from the Google team.

I am in a similar situation with one of my websites. Sometime in March it lost 50% of its traffic and hasn't recovered since then. I submitted a reconsideration request, received a canned reply that they looked at my website and nothing happened. I guess they don't consider my website to be penalized because I am still receiving traffic from G. Why many of my pages no longer rank well is a big mistery to me.
