When I do a search for a particular term that I ranked well for, I still rank well, for that term, but next to the result, it says may 2007

what is doing on here?

and what are all these stars next to the results? seems everybody has a star

The year is the date Google thinks the content was created. You see this at times on queries that Google thinks are time sensitive in some way. They don't always get the dates right, but they are getting better at it.

Stars are usually user ratings of some kind. Are you by any chance using Internet Explorer and looking at the "Sidewiki" votes?
