I have a website since 2004

My website has been ranking in top 10 in google search.

I have changed the design and improved content to go further.

However after that l lost my ground and now ranking in 40+

Google removed my back links also. I have no back link any-more

Can anyone help me or give me some idea about what might happened?

Please give us a picture of the timing:

1. when did you make the website changes?
2. how long after those changes did you lose rankings?
3. how long has your site been ranking in the 40+ area?

Could be the part about "improved content." Do you mean something like adding a few thousand new pages?

Hi Tedster,

I am not sure actually! I have made the changes one year ago and I lost rankings after 2=3 months and sice then my site has been ranking in 40+ area.

If you could help me i would really glad because this is one of the ways that i earn my life

That does sound like a penalty.

Have you check your key pages with the "Fetch as googlebot" tool in Webmaster tools? I'm thinking you may be hosting some parasite links that are cloaked so only googlebot sees them.

Are you using a CMS, like WordPress or Joomla?

The "Fetch as googlebot" tool does not create automated data like the main reports in Webmaster Tools. You need to request that it tfetch your pages, any pages yuou want to test, one by one. It's under the "Labs" section in the menu.

Very interesting! my home page is pr 0 no back link but some of the pages has pr4.

However, although PR4 pages have back links, my URL does not exists in the pages that shown in back links

Is the content on your site the same as what was submitted to the article directories?

Is any of your content from article directories?

When you changed your design, did you keep your page urls the same, or did you change them?

Did you change your navigation structure?

Do you know your writers well, well enough to know whether they might have copied from another source?

You can check the uniqueness of your pages on Copyscape. You can also check for uniqueness by searching for string of 4 or 5 words in quotes. I would recommend trying both, as text that's been copied, but with small changes, will show up better in Copyscape.
