How to rank on page 1 if currently at top of page 2

Hello All,

The rankings on one of my sites are hovering at the top of page two. I want to be above the fold, in the top 3 or 4 positions. I have already tweaked my site content, and can continue to do so, but it doesn't seem to help that much. What kind of SEO work is needed to get into the top 3? Are one way inbound links the key?

Any advice would be awesome!

Yes, links are the key - diverse and natural links.

And if you feel like there's a kind of wall between page a 2 ranking almost all the time and finally appearing on page 1, even some of the time - well, I think I've been noticing that too.

I'd advse that you have that URL in great shape when it finally does get a try out on page 1. Especially have a title and description that just nail it for the keyword. That way you'll get a higher CTR than the norm for that position and be able to show up there (or higher) more often.
