What do you think is better in terms of getting more traffic from SEO, More pages with less content or less pages with more content?

I always try to write each article to its natural length. That usually means at least 500 words of content. My impression is that a range of 500 -2000 words is best for both rankings and readabilty. If it's too long, some visitors will shy away from it. If it's too short, its Google rankings could be hurt.

Every page you write adds one more link pointing at the home page. I have 50 Plus clients. Those that continually add more pages are breaking all records, in rank and traffic. those that do nothing, get nothing in return.

While I don't like or use the technique of 'breaking an article into multiple pages' (unless maybe it was thousands of words long - maybe), I do strictly adhere to the rule of 'one topic for one page' and generally think well of more pages with less content, along those lines.

This is an interesting topic. We have 1,300 articles and around the same number of pages. Each article is around 1,200 words. We could easily have 4,000 pages but decided we'd present all the information on just one page.

I have noticed sites having more pages with less content (Only title+1 heading+1 line description) perform better than site with lesser pages with long articles. How come google doesnt bring that into the equation

Do you mean that these pages only have one sentence of content?
