Google News Publishers: Your Sitemap Requires Updating Before May 4 [googlenewsblog.blogspot.com]

Almost five months ago, we announced a redesign for our Google News Sitemap. We wanted to give publishers plenty of advance notice so they could make a smooth transition to the new format.

This transition period will end on May 4, when we'll discontinue supporting all old-style Google News Sitemaps. If you are a publisher and haven't already shifted your Google News sitemap to the new format, we urge you to do so by following these instructions as soon as possible. This update is key to avoid interruption in crawling your content and allow our crawler to capture all necessary information about your articles.

The Title is inaccurate.

It SHOULD read -
Google News Publishers: Your NEWS Sitemap Requires Updating Before May 4.

So, this actually applies to less than 5% of publishers, and NOT 100%, as the Title implies. This is either a HUGE mistake, or it is Spam to waste readers' time!

Thanks for the reminder! Think we've only changed the news sitemap once or twice since 2002. Long overdue. :)

AS per google news post it is only for News or Article section - [googlenewsblog.blogspot.com...]

While you update your sitemap, id suggest also take a look at [googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com...]

It can be done to any sitemap, ive updated my news sitemap with image information, dont know how much this helps...
