I noticed today for the first time ever a little popup on google.com.au prompting me to install Chrome for faster better browsing. Anyone else noticed this? I was using firefox at the time but I always run an open window of Chrome as my second window (split screen) Anyway this is a pretty aggressive shot at Microsoft.

You're right, that sounds very aggressive - especially because Google engineers often talk publicly about not liking pop-ups (personally that is). Seems very "un-Googley".

Are you sure it's really a Google pop-up and not something malicious and deceptive? I ask especially because I can't make it happen.

I only saw it happen the once on the top right, it was real and it was Google (AU) I've not seen it happen since but I can tell you this, it was very neat. Perhaps it was a test of some sort?
