Migrating a Blog to Its Own Domain - from WP or Blogger

I've a query regarding migrating whole blog from blogger.com or wordpress.com to new personal domain, if we do not delete the older blog entries then how badly it can affect the new domain. (I've a concern with deleting my older blog as it is generating traffic and revenue.)

Is it advisable to migrate older entries to new blog or keep it like that.

You can redirect your blog from wordpress.com for a minimal fee. I don't know about blogger.

Will it affect rankings?

I think Search engines will not like duplicate entries so if you keep your old posts that generate traffic and revenue on blogger.com and all new content on the new domain, you will see no impact. Just post a link on the old blog telling visitors where to find your new content.

Why not just 301 redirect each page on the old blog to the equivalent page on the new domain?
