Google not updating title tags in SERPS

I own a blog that is ~4 years old. I rank #1 and #2 for some mildly competitive terms.

I am running Wordpress and on 5 posts on my site that are ranked in Google, I update those posts 1x per month. More specifically, I update the title of the post to include the current month's name.

I then update a few lines of text/data and that's that.

I updated my 5 posts on March 31st (last Wednesday). Google has still not updated the title tags in the search results, so when people search for the new title, my post shows as #1, but Google is showing the title tag from last month in the results.

My site is medium sized and I have a decent amount of inbound links. I update the site 1x per day by making a new post, but only the ranking pages 1x per month.

This just started last month....and going back 2 years, the title tags would be updated immediately or very soon in Google.

I can't figure out what's wrong. GWMT shows no errors and my sitemap is up to date and accessible.

Anyone ever encounter something like this and how to remedy?

thanks

That seems like another area that is on a long delay while they work out the Caffeine roll-out.

Thanks Ted.

The guys ranked above and beneath me....their title tags changed within an hour of them changing.

My title tag (going from "March keywords" to "April keywords" and making a few minor data changes in the text area of the site) are still reflecting "March" in the SERPS.

I'm wondering if I should take this personal and see it at Google not liking me? (of which I see no reason why because I'm completely timely on making necessary changes to be the most relevant. Maybe a computer program can't tell it, but a human being sure can).

Does your blog ping Google automatically when you make a change?

Yes.

I have sitemaps (xml sitemap plugin) and feedburner working as well.

However, today I found an issue with my feed in which line #1 was coming off as blank. Got an error message when I tried to validate it. DL a plugin to fix it and my feed is working properly as of today. Wasn't for a few weeks (how often do people look at their feed?)

It's apparently a well known error in Wordpress, but I doubt the cause of Google not indexing the updated (4 year old) page. There are no spammy links/shady doings going on. Pure white hat.
