Google search results page that looks almost like Bing

I can see Google search results page layout looks pretty much the same as Bing. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery? Probably testing something.

As I understand it, graeme_p's thread is speaking about what results are ranking, and this thread is talking about a new layout - and that is two different things.

If Google is testing a layout that looks like Bing's page (I haven't seen this for myself) then Google is the imitator. If Bing's actual results start to duplicate Google's, then Bing is the imitator.

Tedster is right. I only saw the new layout yesterday on IE when I was not logged in and search history was disabled.

I had to triple check if I was on google.com instead of bing.com because the layout looked so much the same (even though google.com managed to make the page even prettier by tuning out the small details).

What was new - on top of the page there was listed my (Cityname, state), but I could still change it to another location. On the left menu the current '+ Show options' was turned on by default.

I do think Google will move with this change because comparing to the current layout the new "Bing-style" layout seems better.
