This might be a silly question, but which is my best option here.

I have a site which is starting to rank well in a competitive niche. I have the option of getting a one-way inbound deep link (from a site that is dedicated to the topic of my target page) or linking out to the same site. The 3rd party site has only recently launched but it's highly likely IMO that it will become an authority on this topic in time to come.

One other small note. The 3rd party site is a UK hosted .co.uk while mine is a US hosted .com

Any thoughts as to which would be more advantageous?

Cheers

Ian

An inbound link will give your site a direct ranking benefit, sending you real PR, along with anchor text and other relevance signals. The ranking effect of an outbound is not nearly so direct or clear.

Thanks Tedster. I think I'll get the inbound and then when/if the 3rd party site achieves some authority in its own right, I'll reciprocate.
