WMT is showing a keyword with position 5 for a more than 3 weeks now!...but I can't see my blog under that keyword in the search engine...In Yahoo I've won that keyword...It's a good keyword, more than 20,000 search counts per month...

let's say that the keyword is "egg1 egg2 egg3"...In yahoo my blog under this keyword comes at the 2nd position. But in Google the keyword like "egg1egg2 egg3" comes at 6th position...and actually my blog is under the name "egg1egg2egg3.blogspot.com"...WMT shows "egg1egg2 egg3" in 13th position (eventhough it is in the 6th) in the search engine...but it shows "egg1 egg2 egg3" with 5th position & impression 3%.I want to win "egg1 egg2 egg3" bt not "egg1egg2 egg3"
My blog's got some good content too...and Recently I removed the adsesne from my blog and now I'm seein more visits from Bing and yahoo too...:D...I woudln't have removed the ads code if I had won "egg1 egg2 egg3" in the GOOGLE!

Are you checking your ranking on Google.com or a country such as Google.co.uk?

have you looked at google images?

do the search from your WMT link in the panel, and switch to images, that's usually where these are.

I just wanted to tag along with this and post I'm seeing the same thing.

Ranking in the US is page 3, but WMT shows position 6.

I know my site's ranking in the US by the occasional hit, but also by searching using the servers that we have hosted in Texas (with US IP addresses) and also using proxies.

Ranking in the UK is correctly reported (ish) for google.co.uk

Yes I've checked at Google images too! bt I don't see my blog.
I'm checking in the google.com not country specific. I'm from Nepal, to be honest.
Almost all other keywords in WMT are showing in the SERP's as expected. But why this main keyword, that I've been targeting at is not even in a single page of the Google search engine...quite weird!

My blog is under the same keyword i.e; "the#*$!ingkeyword.blogspot.com" ;)
Plus I have linked back to the other blog using the same #*$!ing keyword as anchor text! (bc I still beleive in this crap)
Most of the content are quite unique as well.
WMT shows its update everyday these days...and that keyword that I'm targeting is still there with position 5 and impression 3% (sometimes 2%).
What amazes me is that my blog don't appear at all when I search that keyword in GOOGLE...but it appears on the 2nd position in YAHOO...and yes not even in BING too...Can BING and GOOGLE have same algorithm?

My friend was saying that I might win that keyword after this PR update,,goin to happen at the end of March (that's what everyone's sayin')

But I don't believe in PR and such stuffs..(courtsey- this very forum :))...Most of the new webmasters like me tend to focus mainly on this 'PR' rather than on their own site...PR is overhyped...and the point to be noted is that "A low PR site can still outrank a high PR site". I've seen that happened in SERP.
oooh...think I typed way more than needed...sorry guys ;)

I'm checking in the google.com not country specific. I'm from Nepal, to be honest.

The report on GWT shows the best position of that keyword on any google where your page has appeared. So you are checking google.com, but the ranking could be on one of other google domains (e.g. on google.com.np or other).

One of ways to find this out is to use drop-down list of google domains that appear on keywords ranking and select one by one, searching for your keyword, and then check the actual position.

For example, we have english keyphrase that is reported to be #2. When I click on the keyphrase, the link takes me to google.com for this keyphrase where it is shown as #7. However, if I use drop-down and change the google to google.co.uk, and then click on the keyprhase, its position is then #2.

hey aakk9999...i know the point u're talkin abt...and i've already tried it out...but din't seem to work!

In WMT, there are two columns under "Top search queries"--Impressions : Your site appeared in these searches & Clickthrough : Users clicked on your site in these searches....

The keyword appears in the Impressions column in no.9 with an impression of 3% and position 5.

Now I tried all Google domains.. .au .ca .co.in .co.uk .nl .no....but that keyword only appears in (United States) google.com and with impression 4%...but my blog don't appear at all in the search engine..i.e; GOOGLE!

Now how would one analyze this?
