Google Suggestions Auto-fill when you Type an Ampersand?

I just noticed this peculiarity with Google Suggestions in the search box. If you've already typed at least one character and you then type an ampersand, the search box auto-fills with another word before the ampersand. Does anyone know what that's all about?

I just tried to test this, but didn't see anything like what you're describing. For example, when I type s&, the first suggestion is s&p500, but this appears in the normal position below the search box.Nothing is added inside the search box.

I get it now - it's only happening for me in Opera, so it must be related to one of Opera's "single key shortcuts" that I'm not normally using.
