CJ links are cause of my site being slow according to GWT

Sorry if this isn't in the right forum...

But I just logged into GWMT and found the "speed" button. Apparently 80% of the sites out there are faster than mine. Part of this is due to the shared hosting plan that I'm on (will be on dedicated server before the end of the week).

When I click the "drill down" button, to my surprise GWMT is telling me that the Commission Junction links I have on a couple of pages are the cause of my site being slow.

Is anyone else having this issue? If so, how to rectify?

Thanks

Third party servers are often a major cause of latency for a page, including Google itself. If you use any third party service, there's little you can do directly - just make your complaint heard as a customer. With a major service like CJ, you can take some comfort in the knowledge that your site has LOTS of company.

There are some affiliate companies who will allow you a little bit of latidude with regard to banner serving. Unfortunately, CJ is not one of them. If this is of real concern to you, maybe try looking into other affiliate programs who feature similir products. Contact them and ask directly if they object to your serving images from your own server.

I've had good luck with this in many of the programs I've dealt with.

CJ is highly over rated in my ever humble opinion....

Thanks Ted and Wy

Coincidentally or not, the pages that Google told me were "slow" also lost a bit of ranking in the past 2 weeks since the SERPS settled down a bit.

Was using JS now using html for the CJ links (just switched over).....should I "no follow" those html CJ links? Could there be any tracking issues or any "no follow" issues from CJ? Just 2 links on the page.

Getting rid of the jscript links was a smart move. They really kill page load time in my experience. I also avoid the encript link thingy, and avoid adding (more) redirects to cj's already redirecting links.

Just reducing the # of links on the page might also help. But some merchants links just load slow for some reason.
