Geotargeting domain with GWT - experiences please

Has anyone used google webmaster geotargeting tool to target a domain for a specific country? and if so how long did it take, did you see a drop in traffic from google.com and an increase in traffic from the country you selected?

Yes, I've used it so far on two UK sites hosted in the US that previously didn't feature in Google's UK index under 'UK results only'.

It worked fine both times; pages were indexed within days.

I'd be interested to know if there's any extra boost in country-specific SERPs to be had by then switching hosting to that country - has anyone tried this?
