Does Google frown on the word "Universal"?

We're in a parts business and like most companies have been hit hard by the slow economy here in the states. To boost sales I created a datafeed for Googlebase/Froogle and some of our parts are universal for most applications and occasionally use the word Universal as what it fits and sometimes in the title of the product.

We have several hundred items like this on our website and I've had to modify our feed to strip out the word Universal to make the feed work.

My question is: If googlebase doesnt like it, I wonder if Google natural search results may be penalized for the use of the word as well?

What do you mean by "googlebase doesn't like it"?

I have a feed that has several instances of "universal" in it and it's been working fine for years, only accepting the odd need to reformat the feed because the google's file format requirements sometimes change.

Well .. I got several items denied and the reason was that I was using a word in the title that was against their policy.

The only word these items had in common was "Universal" once I removed those words the feed was approved. Just wondering if google doesnt like the use of that word as well.....

I have three records with universal in the title - things such as "Universal Cat & Dog Lint Tool". There have been no rejections so far (latest upload two days ago).

But then, it's google! :)

I agree.

It was strange that they denied it for that reason. Who knows.... I had some today that were declined stating the reason that there was no way to purchase the item when clearly on the page there was an "ADD TO CART" button.

Makes you wonder who is doing the manual reviews on the data feeds.

My "base" site uses iframes to display several aspects of the site, including two for products lists (cat and subcat), one for the selected item (which is what goes into Base) and the cart. Google requires ALL of those frames so I had to make up a complete page from only the data panel. What fun! Customers, eh? :(
