Will Google index a redirect page?

I found a topic on a site-wide redirects, but that is not my situation.

I had a homepage, example.com, from which my users followed a link to my forum at example.com/forums/.

But I decided it was an unnecessary step as my website currently contains no pages other than my forum. So I put a redirect on my homepage:

<META http-equiv="REFRESH" content="0;url=http://www.example.com/forums/">

Will Google continue to index my title and description meta tags at example.com?

Thanks, Peter

[edit reason] switch to example.com - it can never be owned [/edit]

AFAIK: No... Google treats a 0 Sec. Meta refresh as a 301, so IMO, you should just 301 it if that's what you're going to do... My opinion only though.

I guess then I should move my forums to the root.

Thanks, Peter
