Google Adds Translated Search Tool [googleblog.blogspot.com]
new "Translated search" tool in the Search Options panel that makes finding and reading content written in other languages easier.
We've offered this feature in Google Translate for a while, but now we're integrating it fully into Google search
We're rolling this out over the next day

With everything else that Google is "rolling out" these days, this new feature may not get a lot of attention. However, it does sound to me like something relatively benign and useful.

Mod's note: This observation, a quote from Marissa Mayer, dovetails so well with the above announcement that I'm adding it to this thread and expanding the thread's title.

"Imagine what it would be like if there was a tool built into the search engine which translated my search query into every language and then searched the entire world’s websites," she says. "And then invoked the translation software a second and third time – to not only then present the results in your native language, but then translated those sites in full when you clicked through.”
