I have a reasonably established website (4 years) and have some good rankings on Google... I am having a problem with a 'trademark' issue that may or may not resolve in me having to change the url (I hope not but I want to cover the options). Is there a way that I could retain the domain name and links.. and redirect to a new url that will be 'publicly displayed?' or any other suggestioons that would help me retain some of my business that has taken 4 years to build up?

The standard advice is to use a 301 Permanent redirect from the old domain to the new domain. If the new domain is page-for-page the same, with only the domain name changing, then a page-for-page redirect is easy to script. You may experience a period of lower traffic, but it usually rebounds.

Whether you can retain control of the disputed domain (and you will need to if you want to put the 301 redirect in place) is a legal issue - good luck with that.
