Hello,

I was wondering if I can have 3 times the same anchor text on different pages of my website and if google is going to count it as 3 links or just one link ?

Here is an example of what I mean :
I have a website www.mywebsite.com with 3 subpages

www.mywebsite.com/page1.html
www.mywebsite.com/page2.html
www.mywebsiste.com/page3.html

If I write the same anchor text on each of those pages linking to my homepage for example , is google going to count it as 3 different links or just one link ( see they all come from the same IP and website )

Then if I write 3 different anchor text linking to my homepage again from those pages, isn't it going to have more value ?

Thank you,

tedster

Most testing I've seen indicates that each link will be counted, but only the first anchor text on any single page is going to be applied. And the fact that each link gets counted is of minimal value for internal links - because the total possible "vote" is getting divided by a higher number and that devalues the other internal links on the page.

If you're thinking of trying to improve your home page's ranking on a variety of keywords with this method, I'd advise against it. Over the past two years, several members here have reported getting penalties after they took this approach.

Tedster thank you for the reply but how about the value of the links.

I do understand that only the first link is counted but what if I write the same anchor text on different pages, does google count it as one anchor text throughout the website or as 3 different anchor text through the website.

If other words is it worth doing the same 3 anchor texts on 3 different pages of my website to be counted 3 times or is google only to count it once... I hope you understand what mean ... Thank you,

Each page counts separately - unless (until) you get a penalty.

tedster: What about the bread crumbs? one of the bread crumb link always links back to home page, often people use an anchor text instead of Home in their bread crumbs, how do search engines take them?
