Will Google devalue links to 301 pages?

Hi,

Im in the process of moving my website over to a new CMS, and in the process I'm rewriting the URLS to be more user and SE friendly. They were long, ugly, and used + signs and all sorts of weird stuff.

So my question is, as I 301 all the old pages to the new URL's, will google eventually say, ok, we got it, the inbound links should go to that page automatically. Or will google eventually drop the link juice from the inbound links after a certain period of time of the 301 being in place? I'm just worried that all the work I did acquiring links will be lost!

I've read some conflicting things, and I plan on contacting the more authoritative inlinks that I have to change to the new urls but am still a little worried. Is there anything I should or shouldnt be doing.

Thanks in advance. :)

I had about 60 301 in my .htaccess and the move was done seamlessly by Google. As long as there is people coming to your site and it's redirecting as fast as possible. You are good to go.

From what I can tell, not quite all the link juice transfers through a 301 redirect - but most does. In a tight competition, this little bit of damping might make a ranking difference.
