Site not appearing for its content in search

My site has different sections. We are maintaining sections by creating directories on root level. come to the point, few of my sections was ranking good before few month. They fall down in SERP. I dont know suddenly what happen to those section. e.g. http://www.example.com/section/ this is the section previously was having good positions in SERP.

Strange thing is that pages of this section i.e. http://www.example.com/section/page.php are having good positions. They are doing well. For all most all keywords they are in first 5 in Google. But remaining 4 pages are not there. One thing i measure that the section /section/ as well as the remaining 4 pages are not papering for its title search in Google in exact search and they are not also appearing for Content exact search.

I have total 7 sections for this site. I have same problem with other two section. If i want to file a reconsideration request for a particular section i.e http://www.example.com/section/ then should I file reconsideration?

The best approach is to find some reason why your pages may have been dropped - and change or fix that first, before you submit a reconsideration request. I appreciate that this may be difficult in some cases, especially right now. It recently seems like there may be some data trouble at Google, and your pages might just reappear on their own. Several members here have reported that kind of thing.

When did it start? I have seen the same things on our site, the categorie pages seem lost, the articles in these categories rank more or less as they did. and the frontpage with it's main subject ranks as normal.

The categorie pages were ranking pretty good on their main subject(s) and our traffic was cut in half by loosing these categorie pages.

often people linked to the categories, and we did not change things before the lost ranking.

We now fixed quite some canonical issues ( dub pages reporting in WMT ) with a more simple structure, and a rewrite to get rid of the widget/ widget/index.php confusion. Not to sure it will fix the issue tho.

We also send in a requesting reconsideration as Tedster suggested in an other post.

Thanks for replying, I have tried to find out the things. and i m experimenting the things since last one and half month. But I failed to achieve the previous rankings. In fact I achieving so many inbound quality links to those pages but those pages are not appearing anywhere else in the search engines. Don't know what to do?

And now I even not appearing when I do my site content search in Google. Google has stop showing my site for its exact body content search. What does it mean?

Please help.
