Does anyone have any action steps in terms of what it would take to get a blog listed in Google Alerts?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm not aware of anything extra that needs to be done. If the blog is indexed, and especially if it pings Google when something new is published, the process seems to be automatic. I wish I could REMOVE some of the blogs that keep popping up in my alerts ;)

Yeah, really what you should do is... nothing. using search engine submit sites only decreses your SEO. Post every week or so and you will get noticed.
