Here is a theoretical question:
Site A: 1 years old, 0 inbound links
Site B: 1 years old, 10 good relevant inbound links.
Site B ranks better than site A, normally. If site B lose all 10 links and remain with 0 links, there is any reason for site A to rank higher than site A ?
We suppose site A and site B are identical(i know is not possible, but is a theoretical example).

I have observed some pages that were linked from some good sites are still ranking better in Google results even after those links disappeared (and no other links were acquired).
I know this is a theoretical question, but it is prompted by your observation, so first, let me ask you about the assumption that there are "0 inbound links"... How are you observing that there are no inbound links to site A?
A lot of other pages of my site ,without any links, are still with very low results in results (almost zero).
I check the links with Yahoo link command and with some popular software products.
I am thinking Google can have for every page a history and give to that page a permanent value for a specific factor.
They have the reason to keep that page with good results, even there is no link anymore to that page?
Sure,i understand is very possible that page get some other natural links who i cannot see,but think a few moments at my idea.
