The thing is: The keyword alone is security related. Could it be that Google blocks new pages with that keyword from ranking in the SERPS?
If so, do you think that this is a temporary blocking (e.g. accepted after a certain time) or permanent? If not, what would be a possible explanation for this keyword not appearing while all others appear. The competition for all keywords is more or less the same give or take a few millions.

Very unlikely. I'll bet you can find lots of pages using that word and ranking very well.
It could be that this search gets special treatment of some kind, like "query deserves freshness" (QDF). This could mean that one or two "fresh" results are forced into the SERP, and your articles missed that boat. The rest of the SERP would then be more competitive, longer established pages.
