Why does google choose to do updates right before the holiday season? Can anyone give me this answer?

Google updates more than daily on average.

If you mean major updates, maybe it's because they want to maximize the quality of their search results with the latest improvements, before the extra traffic arrives.

Google also shifts some rankings around on weekends, and even at different times of day - all because they see different search patterns in their data. I'd say Google has seen that user intentions change in a major way around the holiday season, and they adjust the SERPs to adapt to that change - and to profit from it, of course, because keeping searchers happy means more search volume, more ad clicks, etc.

right before the holiday season
Holiday season! What holiday season?
Are you referring to ThanksGiving and Xmas or have I been missing something for the last 50+ years?
