Capitalization matters now? AU and NZ results

On some searches in Google AU and NZ, I'm seeing different results based on capitalization?

Is this old news?

For over a year now there have been occasional reports about different search results for upper and lower case variations. But the reports are rare, so nothing seems to be well understood - it may even be an occasional test.
