Geo Targetting in Webmaster Tools - Customers in different country

My web site is very much geared towards foreigners sending things to people IN Thailand. Most of the customers are in the USA but also in the UK.

I want to rank for Thailand related words, however its not important that people IN thailand see my pages in the search results. I want people in USA and UK to see my pages.

In the Google webmaster tools I can target different countries. Should I target USA or Thailand?

Thanks

If you set Thailand then you'll be telling Google that your site's market is Thailand. You seem to be telling us that's not the case.

You can only target one country in Google's Webmaster Tools. Since you want the US and UK (and possibly other English markets) then you wouldn't want to set any country.

TLD, hosting location (IP), language and perhaps link profile are considered when determining locality (and perhaps other herbs and spices ;-). If you're targeting a US audience it is ideal to have a .com in the US, in English.

The Webmaster tools function is helpful if you are hosted in Thailand but are targeting the US. Or, if you have a .com (or other generic TLD) and you're targeting a region outside of US. If you have the ideal configuration, electing to restrict your territory could be limiting and it will not help you in the other SEs.

I'm interested to see what others have to say.

I hosted in the UK... and have targetted for the USA in webmaster tools.

I am hoping I am targetting the UK and the USA (i have a .com domain name)

Perhaps I should move my hosting to the USA since about 60% customers from the USA, 30% from UK and 10% from elsewhere.
