Developing new website on old established domain - Part 2

Following my post last year here on "Developing new website on old established domain"
[webmasterworld.com...]

The website has already been been indexed in Google but the homepage are not ranking even for its main keyword

When I do a search for mydomainname (without dot com) it does not appear in the result.

When I do a site search: The homepage appears at number 1 listing.

I've sent a re-consideration request and have received a reply from them that the site has been reviewed.

What should I do next? Should I just keep waiting in the hope that the website will rank normally like it should?

Ranking on Google depends on many things - but a major factor is backlinks. How does your backlink profile look? Have you attracted some good attention from other websites?

Nope, I've not added any backlinks before. I've only started to add in a few of them last week.

I've not updated the site or added any new content in for the past six months. Could this be the factor?

The domain's got a penalty, big time. You need to apply for reconsideration, and explain what you've done to the domain and how it was parked for a while but isn't any more. It worked for me.

Would it be possible that only the homepage is banned? Because when I search for mydomainname the inner pages still do appear on page 17
