Domain expired (and reinstated) - Now what?

A few days ago, my site disappeared from the SERPs -- in fact, it disappeared entirely -- and to my great chagrin I realized I had let my DN expire (due to forgetting to update my email address). Up until then it had ranked on Page 1 for my main search term. After reinstating the DN, my website is nowhere to be found under my search term, at least not on the first several pages, though it is indexed. (Googlebot paid a visit just yesterday.)

So I'm wondering how long it might take to regain my former placement? Days, weeks, months? Many thanks in advance for any help or info.

If you remedied the situation within a few days, I'd expect to see a recovery within a scope of days rather than weeks.

Thanks, tedster, I simply had no idea -- and guess what, you were right. My website has reappeared just this morning -- right where it was in the SERPS! What a relief.

fae99,

How long were you down for and how long did it take G to get you back in rankings. This happened to my site (server went down) but it was only down for 24 hours then back up. It has now been back online for almost 48 hours but still rankings are gone?

Hi maximus12,

My site may have been down up to 3 days before I took notice and reactivated my DN. That was July 8. It regained its former SERPs position somewhere between late July 12 and the next morning, so that's about another 5 days.

Was your site de-indexed when you noticed it was not in google or just ranking in the back pages? Oh and did you happen to notice if google cached your page while it was down?

It was not de-indexed, just waaay in the back pages somewhere. I don't know about the caching, sorry.
